Judith Wright(1915-2000)は現代オーストラリアを代表する女流詩人である。本稿では，彼女の詩に表現された，二つの‘dreamtime’と‘dreaming’を見ていく。即ち，“Two Dreamtimes”におけるアボリジニーの‘dreamtime’と‘dreaming’の意義，そして，“For a Pastoral Family”に描かれた白人移民の初期(白人にとっての‘dreamtime’)と現代の人間像を語る詩人の‘dreaming’が，いかなる意味を持っているかを考察する。アボリジニーと白人移民の双方の精神遺産が現代詩に刻印される時，文字を持たなかったアボリジニーの文化には文字の力が付与され，白人移民の歴史は神話化されることになる。 |
